The 2024 Nissan Frontier has rugged good looks, smooth handling, and a host of tech features you’d expect in a Nissan pickup truck. As your Nissan dealership, we’ve prepared this guide to some of the outstanding features of this 3rd generation Frontier.

Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain

Just like with any vehicle, the best place to look first is under the hood. All six trim versions use a 3.8L DIG DOHC V6 engine that supplies 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. A fast start isn’t usually something most pickup drivers look for, but this engine can take you from 0mph to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds.

The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and is standard in RWD, although AWD is available. This engine/transmission combination makes the Frontier equally adaptable for city driving and off-road. In the city, you’ll enjoy smooth handling and control with effortless gear shifting, while off-road, you’ll find it can take you on dirt roads with ease. If you want even more off-road capability, the Frontier Pro-4X is your choice.

Fuel Economy

The Frontier’s RWD option delivers a good 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while the AWD version will get you 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Sacrificing 1 mpg for the AWD option is more than made up for by the increased towing capacity and versatility.

Towing Capacity

One of the main reasons to choose a pickup is its ability to tow, and the Frontier delivers. Depending on your cab choices and trim level, your Frontier can carry a payload of up to 1,620 pounds, perfect for at least two large dirt bikes and their equipment. Maximum towing capacity is 6,640 pounds.

Cab Options

There are two cab types to choose from: the crew cab with forward-hinged doors and comfortable seating for five or the King Cab, with pillar-less doors and seating for four. In addition, the King Cab option allows the rear seats to face forward or fold out of the way to give you additional space.

Safety Features

The Frontier includes the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system, a variety of safety features that give you even more peace of mind while driving. The systems include rear automatic braking, blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The Frontier, as its name suggests, is tough and built to last, with an impressive range of safety features and customizable options. Depending on your needs, it’s a work truck that will get the job done or a comfortable ride in the great outdoors.
